Holiday 2015 – Day 8 – Bangkok, Thailand

June 5th, 2015 by Francis Yates Leave a reply »

This morning we started our final day in the Kanchanaburi Province to make our way back to Bangkok. We had another full day of exploring before starting the 3 hour drive back. This morning started with a visit to the Rock Valley Hot Spring and Fish Spa.

Now when I saw “visit hot springs” on the itinerary, I thought it would be 1 or 2 hot springs, but this was a full spa! The spa has 15 springs in varying temperatures from hot to normal water. The different springs contained either natural water, or added herbs / items. For example one had orange peals, while another was coffee. Your body feels AMAZING after all 15 springs.

Two of the ponds contain Garra rufa fish which exfoliate your feet. The sensation at first is really ticklish, but once you get used to it is amazing! Your feet come out of the pond feeling so soft!

After the Spa, a quick drive took us to the Sai Yok Nai Waterfall, which is where the death railway currently ends after the rest of it was destroyed by the allied forces at the end of the world war. There is not much else to add about the waterfall 🙂

After another Thai lunch (amazing food, but I do not want to see rice for awhile!) we made our way to the Tiger Temple. Tiger Temple, or Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua, is a Buddhist Temple in western Thailand that was founded in 1994 as a forest temple and sanctuary for wild animals, among them several tigers, the majority of which are Indochinese tigers.

When arriving you get to have your photos taken with some of the tigers, and after awhile you can walk them down to the play pens where they spend the rest of the day after a few more photos. They are truly beautiful animals!

Tomorrow will be our last day in Bangkok, which will pretty much just be a shopping day! As such, there will be no day 9 update. Tomorrow evening we will fly from Bangkok to Singapore, where we will then spend the night. Next update from Singapore on Sunday! Have a great weekend!
